Across the street from our apartment complex is Jordan's Landing, an outdoor shopping center/mall. Yesterday Santa Claus made his debut at our mall. Since we moved to West Jordan we have anticipated this. His "landing" at The Landing has been heavily advertised.

Consequently we decided it would be best to arrive early for this event in hopes to secure ourselves a descent spot in line! As we took our place in line during the coldest day we have yet experienced this year it began to snow.

It was so cold keeping
Kallista in the stroller would have been cruel. I shoved her inside my jacket to keep her as warm as
possible.

We waited for the West Jordan fire department to deliver the big man himself for about an hour. Even Chris Kringle keeps Mormon standard time!

Fortunately the kids didn't mind him being so late... A local Chick-
fil-a provided free food. The mall had hot coco. And lastly Santa's elves tried their darnedest to keep the crowds entertained with songs and stories.

Elves should be more careful what they tell kids. Athena is now quite set on making sure we have chocolate chip cookies for Santa because that is apparently Santa's favorite cookie. That
possesses a problem in our household... a Christmas tradition in our family is having the kids make and decorate sugar cookies on
Christmas eve to leave out for Santa. We'll see how we deal with this too!

After bearing the extreme cold, the snow fall and numberless questions regarding when Santa will arrive and when can we talk to him! We got into the big guys workshop! Athena ran right up to him, jumped on his lap and gave him the picture of her note book. Darius then strolled up, stood in front of the red suite and told Santa exactly what he wanted. Santa then asked if he had been a good boy and cautiously as possible he stopped to think it over, then looked at both his parents then back at Santa before he was comfortable to answer. Santa saw the hesitation and asked Darius if he should ask one of us to answer that question. Darius then decided it would be best if dad answered that one on his behalf!

Ari would not talk to Santa at all until she saw that after interacting with him Athena and Darius received candy and a coloring book! Then the flood gates were opened and Ari couldn't stop talking... This was quite important for the parents because up to that point we still had no idea what Ari wanted. So surprise to us all Ari asked for Dora "stuff"! Like she needs more of that. And lastly
Kallista wouldn't get near him.

And here was the kicker of to our not so perfect family fun evening... We were not permitted to take a picture with our own personal camera! So all that time and all that cold and we have no picture! This is our first Christmas with no picture with Santa! I tried not to cry when I got the devastating news!

That is too bad there is no picture. That must be a new thing to make money cause Aaron had the same problem but just took the picture anyway.
